Man Tent
The Green Man will rise!
The Sherwood Forest Trust is the only landscape charity working exclusively
in Sherwood. They are dedicated to the restoration of the landscape and
to restoring man’s relationship to this land which is our home.
‘Green Man’ sculpture workshop : At Treefest the Trust will
be running a communal heritage workshop on Saturday for all to participate
in. This sculpture will be symbolic of the community spirit of Newstead
village and of man returning to nature.
The workshop will take place in front of the Trust’s medieval heritage
tent, situated alongside The Speakeasy Café. When completed the
sculpture will be raised into position in ‘The Village’ area.
Treefest Story workshop : On Sunday the Trust will be running an intergenerational
workshop to collect ideas and quotes from people around The Speakeasy
Café to create a communal Treefest story.
Treefest Giant Lantern workshop : Workshops leading up to the festival
will take place at Newstead Youth and Community Centre with Environmental
Artist Rosy Hobbs. These are free and open to all ages – come along
and join the fun from 10am – 4pm Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July.
The completed Artwork will go on display in The Village area. Rosy will
also be delivering creative environmental workshops throughout the Treefest
weekend.
Other Environmental organisations are welcome to display information in
the Trust’s tent.
